CP162: To Heal Your Heart

This is the card I made for the CardPatterns sketch challenge. Most of the color challenges I participated in this week were bright colors with a lot of saturated colors. I decided to switch things up with this sketch challenge.

I wanted to create a card that could be used for a sympathy card. I'm glad to say I don't have anyone to give it to. But, it's nice to have these on hand when the occasion arises. I put a lot of details in this card. I also used the Ranger Distress Inks for the first time on this card. I love how they blend together. Another technique on this card was cracked glass. This is one of my favorite distress techniques. It takes a bit of time since I don't have the UTEE. I used clear SU embossing powder. I think I did about 10 coats! It may have been overkill but I never know how much is needed to create the effect.

JUGS133: Happy Birthday with Blossom Bouquet

This was the card I made for the Just Us Girls Challenge. This week it was a color challenge. The colors were Hot Pink, Orange and Lime Green. At first I had a tough time with the color combo. I didn't know how I wanted to fit in the Lime Green. The closest color I had was Lucky Limeade. While I was pondering my choice of green, I remembered my paper stack from Recollections that had the perfect patterned paper. The chevron paper is from Recollections and the collection is called Retro Collage. It is super cute paper.

This is the card I made for the Play Date Cafe color challenge. I loved the bright, saturated colors. So fun and fresh. The other day while looking on Splitcoast, I saw a darling card made with the Tasteful Trim Die and the 3/4" circle punch by Frenchie Stamps. I had to CASE the technique and I loved how it turned out. What a great idea!

CTD188: Friends with Vintage Vogue

This is the card I made for the Color Throwdown challenge. The colors were Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Always Artichoke. This was the first time I have ever used my Always Artichoke ink. I just don't reach for that color very often. It was certainly a nice compliment to the pink.

I also bought the Vintage Vogue stamp set, finally. Then, I learned that it will be retired. Oh well! I still really like it.

This is the card I made for Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This is the first card I have ever created using Copic markers. I'm not great at shading, but hope to get better. I guess like with everything, practice makes perfect.

I really love coloring in stamped images. I find it really relaxing. I do feel a bit guilty...this isn't a Stampin' Up! stamp. I just needed to switch it up a little.

cQc133: You're On My Mind with Mixed Blossoms

This is the card I made for the colourQ Challenge. The colors were Basic Black, Basic Grey, Whisper White, Dusty Durango and More Mustard. I substituted Cajun Craze since I didn't have Dusty Durango. I think I say this for every color challenge...but I really love color challenges.

This card turned out nothing like I had originally planned. The original card was going to use some type of spotlight technique. It's amazing how your card evolves as you put things together.

PP91: Thanks for Watching Over Me

This is the card I did for the Paper Players challenge. This week the challenge was to create a card using watercoloring. I love watercoloring. There is something very relaxing about coloring. I've actually created a card with this layout before. I like the layout for this stamp set. I would have never thought that this would have been one of my favorite stamp sets...but it is! I just love the umbrella and the corset image.

This is the card I made for the Just Us Girls challenge. The challenge was to create a layer that is sponged. How fun! I sponged the layer with the colored panels. It took a little bit of time getting everything lined up. I used tons of post it notes to create a mask and then sponged on color a panel at a time. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

PDCC127: Birthday with Sesame Street

This is the card I made for the Play Date Cafe color challenge. This is my first time entering the challenge. I'm starting to lean more towards color challenges. I'm not sure why.

I know this card isn't super original. I've been wanting to make these punch art Sesame Street characters for awhile now, but never had a reason to. When I saw the colors for this challenge I knew this was my opportunity.

Wow, lots of cutting with this card! I made this card for the colourQ Challenge. The colors were Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Lucky Limeade, Basic Black and White. Overall, I'm happy with how this card turned out although it didn't turn out quite how I envisioned it in my mind's eye. I cut out each candle after I stamped and embossed. PP90: Happy Birthday with Flower Fancy

This is the card I made for the Paper Players challenge. This week the challenge was a color challenge. The colors were Not Quite Navy, Pool Party and Certainly Celery. I seem to be running low on my Pool Party supplies (because it is one of my favorite colors) so I substituted Baja Breeze.

For this card I used the marker layering technique. I think this is one of my favorite techniques right now! I love how it looks on the card. It makes anyone an artist.
