cQc177: For You with Feeling Sentimental

I really had a tough time putting together a card with this color combination. I kept trying to different stamp sets, but not liking what I created with them. After looking at the colors for a while I realized that the Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Always Artichoke were close to the colors used to create faux patina. So, I decided to go with a vintage looking card. And, of course, since it is vintage I had to go with my new favorite vintage stamp set -- Feeling Sentimental.

When I struggle with a color challenge it always makes me realize how much talent the design team has. They come up with amazing cards week after week.

This is the card I made for the colourQ challenge. I had a tough time with this color combination for some reason. When I first saw the color combination I thought of doing something floral. But, everything I created didn't seem to work. I moved away from the floral idea and moved towards some color blocking.

cQc174: Imagine the Possibilities Swallowtail

It's been awhile since I have done any crafting or cardmaking. I got super busy with work and over the past year I have been focused on my health and losing weight. I started traveling a lot for work and something had to give. Unfortunately, I gave up crafting for a bit. My travel schedule has lessened so I'm looking forward to getting back to crafting. To top it off, over the past year I have lost close to 70 pounds. Hooray for me!

This card was made for the colourQ challenge. This week's colors were Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Pink Pirouette, Early Espresso and Vanilla. I substituted Whisper White for the Vanilla. To add a little bit more pizazz to the card, I used Frost White Shimmer Paint and tinted it with Raspberry Ripple reinker. I then splattered the card with a bit of it.

cqc143: For You Herringbone

I was feeling a little uncreative this week. It was a long, stressful week and I'm very glad it is over. I decided to try the Herringbone technique. I was always a little intimidated by this technique, but it is actually really easy and a great way to use up a lot of scraps.

This is the card I made for the colourQ Challenge #139. The colors were Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cakes and Whisper White. The colors reminded me of moonlight. To create the effect I used Stampin' Up! inks as Distress Inks. I really like the effect it created.

cQc138: Cherish

This is the card I made for the colourQ Challenge. The colors this week were Poppy Parade, More Mustard, Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Whisper White. I didn't have a lot of time this week so I had to make a quick card. For the button, I covered a regular Stampin' Up! button with DSP. I like being able to make a perfectly coordinated button. I saw the idea in the Stampin' Success magazine. Such a simple idea but I never would have thought of doing something like that.
