JUGS175: My Friend Sunrise

This is the card I made for the Just Us Girls challenge. The challenge this week was masking. I masked the white cardstock and sponged several colors to create a sunrise look. This card was inspired by a sunrise I saw on a plane. I travel quite a bit for my job and the last trip I took was to California. My flight out in the morning was at 6:00 AM and I saw the most beautiful sunrise. The colors were amazing. There was dark red, oranges and yellows. It was spectacular. I tried to recreate the sunrise with this card.

JUGS142: Live in the Sunshine with Field Flowers

I had a really tough time with this challenge. This week's Just Us Girls challenge was to create a Summer/BBQ theme project. Mine is a little far from this. I just couldn't create a card that I like using red and yellow. I also didn't really have any food or BBQ themed stamps. So, I focused on the color yellow and summer.

I also tried something new. I love patterned paper. I wish SU had more of it. But, I have My Digital Studio. So, I found some patterned paper I liked and printed it out. It worked rather well. I will certainly do this again.

This weeks Just Us Girls challenge was a color challenge. The colors were blue, red and white. I got a chance to use Midnight Muse which is one of SU's new In Colors. I really like the Midnight Muse color. I opted for a nautical card with these colors. I was so happy when SU brought back The Open Sea stamp set. Thanks so much for looking.

JUGS140: Thanks for your Support

This is the card I made for the Just Us Girls challenge. The challenge this week was a technique challenge, and the challenge was acrylic distress. I had tried this technique a while back ago and learned that too much paint makes it really difficult to sand off the paint to create the affect.

I made the flowers using circle punches. Each flower is made up of three circle punches. I used my bone folder to distress the cardstock to the point that the layers of the paper begin to separate. When the paper is really distressed you can then separate the layers into two pieces. I stacked all the layers (6) and secured them with a brad. Next, I took each layer and scrunched it towards the center. Once I did this with all the layers I gently unfolded it to make the flowers.

JUGS133: Happy Birthday with Blossom Bouquet

This was the card I made for the Just Us Girls Challenge. This week it was a color challenge. The colors were Hot Pink, Orange and Lime Green. At first I had a tough time with the color combo. I didn't know how I wanted to fit in the Lime Green. The closest color I had was Lucky Limeade. While I was pondering my choice of green, I remembered my paper stack from Recollections that had the perfect patterned paper. The chevron paper is from Recollections and the collection is called Retro Collage. It is super cute paper.

JUGS132: Sponged Layers with Pocket Silhouettes

This is the card I made for the Just Us Girls challenge. The challenge was to create a layer that is sponged. How fun! I sponged the layer with the colored panels. It took a little bit of time getting everything lined up. I used tons of post it notes to create a mask and then sponged on color a panel at a time. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

JUGS129: Notecard Set with Choose Your Own Sentiment

This is a note card set that I made for the Just Us Girls challenge. I had such a great time making this card set. I already have in mind who I'm giving it too! I've never made a note card set with a coordinating box. I have always wanted to but never made the time. This was so much fun. I am going to do this again, soon!

The set comes with six cards and matching envelopes. The sentiment on the front can be swapped out for what you want.

This photo shows the entire set minus the envelopes. I just couldn't fit them in the photo. As you can see there are five additional sentiments that just need to be adhered to the card front. I also made a petal envelope to store the sentiments.

I really cannot wait to give this to my friend. I think she is going to be really excited!

This is a close up of the box front. I love the little scalloped circle roses. Whoever came up with that idea is a genius.

This is what the card looks like with the sentiment. I love all the layers and texture.

In this photo you can see all the details of the card.

And, here's a close up of the little petal envelope I made to hold the sentiments.

Now for all the details....

This is my cards for the Just Us Girls weekly challenge. This week was a color challenge. The colors were light pink, spring moss and cream. For light pink I used Pretty in Pink. For spring moss I used Certainly Celery; and for cream I used Very Vanilla.

I had seen a lot of cute cards that used the spotlighting technique. It has been awhile since I've done spotlighting. I used butterfly punches to create the spotlighting.

JUGS127: Cherish with Butterflies

I believe I have Word Verification turned off. If you leave a comment and notice that it is still on, please let me know. Thanks!

This is the card I made for the Just Us Girls challenge. This month's challenge was to create a card using faux embossing. I had a lot of fun making this card. I would have never done something like this but I love how it turned out. The butterflies are actually punches. I layered three punches on top of one another to get a embossed affect.

JUGS126: Thanks with Mixed Bunch

This is the card I made for the "Just Us Girls" challenge. This week was a sketch challenge and I have the sketch below. I've been trying to use colors that I don't use frequently. Typically, my cards are either mostly blue or mostly pink -- my two favorite colors. I challenged myself to use some colors that I don't use as often. I have a ton of Mostly Mustard cardstock because I never use that color. But honestly, it's a great color when paired with purple and even blue.

Just Us Girls #125: Fast & Fabulous Frame

This weeks Just Us Girls Challenge #125 was a 3D challenge that had to use ribbon, flowers and buttons. I decided to do an altered picture frame. The framed image is a CASE from Michelle Zindorf (found here) stamped with Stampin' Up! Fast & Fabulous stamp set. It is matted with ribbon. The flowers are made from tissue paper and the centers are buttons. How fun!
